SWIHA is proud and honored to be the only college in Arizona offering full Polarity Practitioner training programs approved by the American Polarity Therapy Association (APTA). In this comprehensive, 700-hour Polarity RPP program, students experience the exciting new paradigm of energy healing as they study the human energy system and see how it influences health and disease.
This program may be taken to fulfill part of your primary specialty requirements within some of our degree or diploma programs, to enhance your professional skills, or to further your own personal growth and development. Polarity RPP contains our Polarity APP course within it.
Graduates earn a Certificate of Excellence showing completion of 700 hours of specialization in the field of Polarity RPP and will be eligible to apply for national certification through the APTA.
* NOTE: Certificates of Excellence are not necessarily designed to serve as stand-alone vocational training and may not prepare you for gainful employment if taken independently of a diploma or degree program.
Based on the integrative holistic modality developed by Dr. Randolph Stone, Polarity Therapy is a natural health care system founded on the principle that bodily imbalances result from physical and emotional experiences from the past. Polarity addresses the interrelatedness of the mind, body and spirit and the energetic fields and currents of the body.
Polarity serves as a key to “unlock” the life force energy through four distinct areas of technique: touch (acupressure or point-specific focusing), stretching and exercise, nutrition and healthy eating, and mental-emotional processing.
In Dr. Stone’s teachings on “energy medicine”, he incorporates esoteric language from many spiritual traditions including mystic Christianity, Ayurveda, Taoism, Hinduism, Buddhism, Sufism and Yoga. Polarity practitioners seek to restore the natural balance of energy which flows through the universe, the body, and chakra system.
Polarity practitioners work with the reciprocal, complementary or “polarized” forces, known as yin and yang, and the three ‘gunas’ or tendencies of human nature known as Rajas, Tamas and Satva. These correlate with the underlying holistic and Ayurvedic traditions on which this program is based.
When illness or discomfort is present, the goal is to remove interferences to health and to support the body’s natural ability to heal itself.
The majority of its practitioners are licensed massage therapists, however Polarity is a clothed modality and does not specifically require a massage license to practice. Students in the Polarity APP Certificate of Excellence program study introductory and advanced Polarity, including cranial unwinding, reflexology, communications, resonance and relations, spinal balancing, business and ethics, and more.
Do you want to explore Polarity, but you are not sure about signing up for the full 700-hour program? SWIHA invites you to sit in on the first 4 hours of any introductory class before deciding to enroll.
