The Evolution of Healing: AOS in Holistic Healthcare

Your path to becoming a skilled, trauma-informed practitioner and entrepreneur starts here.

A Reimagined Foundation for the Modern Healer.

For over 30 years, SWIHA has been a pioneer in holistic education. After a year of deep reflection and curriculum refinement, we have evolved our degree offerings to meet the growing demand for body-centered, integrative healing.

Our Associate of Occupational Studies (AOS) in Holistic Healthcare is a 60-credit, 104-week journey that bridges the gap between ancient wisdom and modern science. Founded on the principles of the American Holistic Health Association (AHHA), this program empowers you to treat the whole person—mind, body, and spirit.

From Thinking to Feeling.

We have transitioned our legacy Transformational Psychology track into a cutting-edge Somatic Psychology concentration. While the mind is powerful, we know that true, lasting change often requires a “bottom-up” approach—working with the nervous system, breath, and cellular memory to release trauma and restore balance

The Four Concentrations: Choose Your Purpose

Students select one specialized area of concentration to anchor their degree:

  1. Somatic Psychology (Newly Updated!) Move beyond traditional coaching. Learn to facilitate healing through the lens of the nervous system, using mindfulness, body-mind integration, and somatic breathwork to help clients regulate and thrive.
  2. Integrative Yoga Therapy (New Concentration!) The first accredited Yoga Therapy pathway in Arizona. This clinical track prepares you to use yoga as lifestyle medicine, addressing physical and emotional health conditions through therapeutic movement and breath.
  3. Western Herbalism Deepen your connection to the Earth. Master the art and science of plant medicine, learning how to formulate botanical remedies and support wellness through nature’s pharmacy.
  4. Massage Therapy Master the healing power of touch. Gain a professional foundation in therapeutic bodywork, learning how to address physical ailments while supporting a client’s emotional and energetic well-being.

We don’t just train healers; we build business owners.

The AOS degree is specifically designed for the aspiring entrepreneur. While we cannot guarantee a client base, we provide the blueprints to build one. As a SWIHA student, you receive:

  • Lifetime Support: Access to our Success Center for career coaching and business mentoring for life.
  • Business Mastery: Core coursework in holistic entrepreneurship and professional ethics.
  • Clinical Experience: Hands-on practice in a supportive, professional environment.

Our curriculum is built on the four pillars of holistic wellness:

  • Integrative Balance: Harmonizing physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual health.
  • Cooperative Relationships: Respecting the connection between individuals and their environment.
  • Wellness Choices: Empowering lifestyle changes that promote longevity.
  • Active Participation: Engaging clients as partners in their own healing process.
