Stress, overuse, trauma and other complications can make your muscles tight and painful. Fascia is part of the connective tissue in your body that can become restricted and sore. The specialized technique of myofascial release addresses these trigger points with a therapeutic, relaxing effect.
Southwest Institute of Healing Arts’ comprehensive 100-hour Myofascial program may be taken to fulfill part of the primary specialty requirements within some of our degree or diploma programs, to enhance your professional status, or to further your own personal growth and development and skillset.
As you become skilled in connective tissue evaluation and release you will be able to assist people who suffer from patterns of chronic muscular restriction, pain and dysfunction. Working with the matrix of the myofascia, you will develop a sought after therapeutic touch. Graduates of this program earn a Certificate of Excellence showing completion of 100 hours of specialization in the field of Energetic Myofascial Massage.
Myofascial Energetic Massage There are different layers of the body including subcutaneous tissue, fascia, myofascia, tendons, joints and bone. These areas each benefit from specialized techniques to help mobilize, flex and extend them as needed. A myofascial practitioner’s touch can range from energetic to light to deep pressure, combining movement and stretching with massage. This approach creates ease for both the client and the therapist because they work together to find natural release patterns of each layer rather than using force to relax the muscles.
* NOTE: Certificates of Excellence are not necessarily designed to serve as stand-alone vocational training and may not prepare you for gainful employment if taken independently of a diploma or degree program.
Students in the Myofascial Certificate of Excellence program will study introductory and advanced techniques of Energetic Myofascial Massage and learn how to specifically work with the head, neck, lower spine, pelvis, legs, shoulders, thoracic cage, arms, wrists and hands. Students also learn Swedish massage, and how to help people ease chronic tension and untangle the issues in their tissues.
