Yoga Teacher Training (YTT) is an essential part of the curriculum at Southwest Institute of Healing Arts. Our program is called Unity Yoga. We teach an authentic expression of yoga with a transformational approach, honoring a diversity of practices and belief systems. Our program is based on the principle that yoga is a unifying tool for creating health, well-being and a deep spiritual connection. We provide structure, yet educational freedom, so all may find their own truth, while incorporating a ‘living yoga’ approach to their lives. SWIHA’s program is unique in being one of the very few nationally accredited schools offering the option to take a YTT program independently or along with additional career-expanding holistic programs such as Massage Therapy.
All of SWIHA’s Yoga Teacher Training diploma programs, including the 200, 600, and 800 hour Yoga Teacher Training enable successful graduates to become Registered Yoga Teachers through the internationally-recognized Yoga Alliance® Organization and hold the official title of “RYT” (Registered Yoga Teacher). This designation is often required for those seeking professional employment as yoga teachers.
SWIHA’s YTT program is among the very few nationally accredited schools offering the option to take Yoga Teacher Training independently or together with additional career-expanding holistic programs such as Massage Therapy or Life Coaching.
Graduates may be eligible for Federal financial aid for Yoga-integrated programs as well as the 600 & 800 hour YTT diploma programs. Title IV Financial Aid may be available to those who qualify.
If you are drawn to yoga as your path to spiritual and financial freedom and flexibility, this program gives you a sturdy primary foundation. The core of this training includes an introduction to classic yoga philosophy, understanding of breath control and the physical practice of yoga. This program is for students planning a career or lifestyle involving many areas of yoga and prepares students to teach to groups or individuals. Starting every other month, students can enroll in six different modules independently or as a whole. This allows the freedom to select what you feel will best serve your unique yoga style and interests. Along with these useful modules, students choose one primary specialty totaling 100 hours plus 100 hours of beneficial electives, or one primary specialty totaling 200 hours.
For those diving deep into an all-encompassing yoga practice, this in-depth yoga education prepares students to expertly teach to groups and includes a therapeutic specialty that allows for one-on-one work with clients. The therapeutic specialty includes learning powerful holistic modalities such as Polarity, Reiki, Life Coaching with Nutrition, Yoga Nidra, Shiatsu, Reflexology or Aromatherapy.
Becoming a successful Yoga Teacher involves more than completing a training program and obtaining accreditation. To support graduates, SWIHA offers a full-service Success Center, where all graduates receive a life-long commitment of job placement assistance, entrepreneurial and career coaching, resume guidance, and full licensing support.
