A Career and Life as a Massage Practitioner
Unlike other massage schools, our massage therapy programs train you in all the core competencies required of a classically educated massage therapist such as anatomy, communication skills, CPR, physiology, ethics along with Swedish massage, cranial unwinding, reflexology and more. Plus, you get additional hours of unique training in one or two primary holistic wellness specialty areas which interest you like aromatherapy, holistic nutrition, reiki, yoga and more. You will also receive valuable hands-on experience.
Not only will you earn a certification in each specialty, you will also have a professional advantage over non-specialized licensed massage therapists when applying for employment or starting a private massage therapy practice.
Massage therapists work in a variety of settings, both private and public. These include private offices, spas, hospitals, massage specialty clinics and fitness centers. Many massage therapists create their own professional practice, renting and creating space in a multi-use spa or health and wellness provider building. Massage therapists also travel to clients’ homes or offices massage sessions.
The US Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) projects that employment of massage therapists “will grow 23 percent from 2012 to 2022, much faster than the average for all occupations. Continued growth in the demand for massage services will lead to new openings for massage therapists.” According to the BLS, the median annual wage for massage therapists was $35,970 as of May 2012.

The Healing Power of Massage
Massage therapy is recognized as an effective means of treating painful ailments:
- Easing tired, overworked muscles
- Reducing stress
- Rehabilitating sports injuries
- Promoting general health
- Improving circulation
- Helping whole body metabolism and supporting systems
Massage Therapy is also valuable in the healing and complementary treatment for many health issues. From helping individuals relieve muscle fatigue, stress, anxiety and sleeping difficulties to assisting a wide range of medical patients to cope with difficulties associated with their diagnosis. The general population as well as the medical community now widely embraces this alternative form of therapy for its mind-body healing benefits. Massage can also be preventative therapy, addressing the whole person rather than treating illnesses and disease.
